Phil Lucey, executive director of the NorthCarolina Press Association, has been entrenched in the newspaper industry sincehis childhood. Generations of Lucey’s have operated local newspapers. His firstjob was on the salesroom floor, and overthe years he has witnessed the evolution of the paper, the struggles and thechallenges, including the addition of digital formats.
