Commitments
WCS District STEM Coordinator Christine Mitchell uses the STEM Mobile Cart kits, purchased with Rotary grant funds, to work with 8th grade students at Speight Middle School. They are working collaboratively to build a working hydraulic arm. They will also design and build an end piece that will help them pick up different materials. They will test their designs and arms, redesign to make improvements, test again and compare results. The purpose of our Innovation Cart is to expose middle school students to hands-on, engaging STEM activities that allow them to build upon skills needed for the real world.
As you may know, our club typically has two grant funding distributions per year – one in the spring and one in the fall. It is that time of year where we are accepting grant applications for our fall distribution. We have sent notification of this to organizations who have applied for funding in the past. In addition, if you are aware of organizations that may be interested, feel free to share the grant application with them. Please note that we distribute funds based on available funding and the best fit for our Club’s current funding focus areas, which are:
· YOUTH
· SOCIAL SERVICE
· CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT
Attached is a copy of our grant application. All applications are due by Friday, October 22, 2021. Please notify potential applicants to return completed applications to me via email only at kvandyk@wilsonnc.orgsubject line “Wilson Rotary Club fall 2021 grant funding”. Please contact me with any questions. As always, thank you for your continued support of our Club and our Wilson community.
