Joe Weaver is an amateur journalist who writes occasionally goofy things in the newspaper. He is originally from Baltimore and has lived in New Bern, NC for about a decade. His column runs bi-weekly in the Wilson Times and the Richmond Observer, in Rockingham. He has been writing since he could form sentences and has tried numerous times to write the Great American Novel. His newspaper career began in August, 2015 when he was convinced to submit a column by Corey Friedman, Wilson Times editor, then editor of The Richmond County Daily Journal. What started as a whim has now lasted nearly six years and earned Joe a North Carolina Press Association Award for Lighter Columns.
Joe is married, has two grown daughters and two grandsons. He lives in New Bern with his wife and their two cats
